Thanksgiving

What a thoughtful and meaningful idea! Sharing houseplants as a symbol of friendship is a wonderful way to express thanks and gratitude.  Let them be reminders of your friendship near and far.  Here's a list of houseplants that are relatively easy to propagate and share with family and friends:

1. Pothos (Epipremnum aureum):

   • One of the easiest plants to propagate.
   • Cut a healthy vine and place it in water until roots develop, then transfer to soil.

2. Spider Plant (Chlorophytum comosum):

   • Produces "pups" or baby plants on long stems.
   • Once the pups have developed roots, they can be separated and potted.

3. Snake Plant (Sansevieria trifasciata):

   • Can be propagated by dividing the rhizomes or leaf cutting
   • Cut a healthy leaf with roots and plant it in a new pot.
   • Cut a leaf and root in water, new plants will emerge from bottom of the leaf.

4. African Violet (Saintpaulia):

   • Propagate through leaf cuttings.
   • Take a healthy leaf, place the cut end in water until roots appear, then plant in soil.

5. Succulents (e.g., Echeveria, Sedum):

   • Many succulents can be propagated from leaves or offsets.
   • Allow cuttings to callous before planting in well-draining soil.

6. ZZ Plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia):

   • Propagate by division or leaf cuttings.
   • Separate a healthy rhizome with roots and plant it in a new pot.

7. Jade Plant (Crassula ovata):

   • Propagate from stem or leaf cuttings.
   • Allow cuttings to dry before planting in soil.

8. Heartleaf Philodendron (Philodendron hederaceum):

   • Propagate from stem cuttings.
   • Place cuttings in water until roots develop, then transfer to soil.

9. Chinese Money Plant (Pilea peperomioides):

   • Propagate from offsets or stem cuttings.
   • Allow cuttings to root in water and then transfer to soil.

10. Tradescantia (e.g., Wandering Jew):

    • Easily propagated from cuttings.
    • Place cuttings in water until roots form, then plant in soil.
