Hoya, commonly known as wax plants or porcelain flowers, is a diverse genus of over 500 species of mostly epiphytic or lithophytic vines native to tropical and subtropical regions of Asia and Australia. These evergreen perennials are cherished by indoor plant enthusiasts for their thick, waxy, and often succulent leaves, which vary widely in shape, size, and variegation across species.

While their foliage is highly ornamental, Hoya plants are also prized for their unique clusters of star-shaped, often fragrant, waxy flowers that bloom repeatedly from the same peduncles. They are relatively low-maintenance, thriving in bright, indirect light with well-draining soil and a preference for higher humidity, and their vining or trailing habit makes them ideal for hanging baskets or climbing supports.
