Sterculia colorata
Aka Firmiana colorata, scarlet sterculia (also known as bonfire tree, colored sterculia and Indian almond. Endemic to SE Asia, these caudex plant produces velvet orange flowers in Spring before sending out maple like leaves.
Do not mistaken this plant for Stephania. The caudex may look similar but they are not the same plant.
- Light: bright indirect
- Soil: succulent/ cactus mix. Likes to be root bound. Repot every 2 years.
- Water: allow to slightly dry between watering. Keep slightly moist during dormant (winter) season
- Fertilizer: liquid during spring monthly
