Neoregelia is a genus of flowering plants that are native to the rainforests of South America and are part of the Bromeliaceae family. The genus is named after Eduard August von Regel, the Director of St. Petersburg Botanic Gardens in Russia. 

Neoregelias are compact plants that can grow between 2 inches and 1 foot tall and up to 2 feet wide. They have leaves that are often spotted, banded, or marbled, and the central leaves often have a different color when in bloom. 

Neoregelias typically form a “cup” in the middle that gathers water and debris for nutrition.
