Platycerium hillii
Originating in Queensland, Australia, the Platycerium hillii features distinctive, rounded or kidney-shaped shield fronds. These fronds form dense, overlapping layers, with wavy or slightly lobed edges. Growing primarily during the cooler months, these tightly packed shields can make watering the root ball difficult. Interestingly, P. hillii is adapted to collect moisture through dew condensation on its fertile fronds, potentially a mechanism to regulate water intake and prevent root rot in its naturally humid environment.
