Dischidia imbricata - HB - 5"
Dischidia imbricata, also known as the Shingle Plant or String of Nickels, is a unique epiphytic succulent native to Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its small, round, overlapping leaves that resemble shingles on a roof. These leaves are typically green but can also have reddish or purplish hues, and they often have translucent windows that allow light to penetrate through.
This plant is a slow grower and thrives in bright, indirect light and warm temperatures. It prefers a well-draining soil mix and should be allowed to dry out slightly between waterings. Dischidia imbricata also benefits from high humidity levels, so it can be placed in a terrarium or misted regularly.
In its natural habitat, Dischidia imbricata grows on trees and other plants, using its aerial roots to attach itself to its host. It can also be grown as a houseplant in a hanging basket or on a trellis. With proper care, Dischidia imbricata can produce small, white flowers that are often hidden beneath the leaves.
